Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Zula O'Pry, 92, the former Zula Doucet. Mrs. O'Pry, a native and life-long resident of Church Point, died at 3:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 19 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum adjacent to the church.
Survivors include her son, Patrick Dale O'Pry of Church Point; four grandchildren: Michael O'Pry and wife Deidre, Devonie O'Pry and Chase O'Pry and wife Sarah-all of Church Point and Trae O'Pry and wife Brittney of Branch, La.; two great-grandchildren, Brittany Jeannine and Heather Marie O'Pry and a great-great-grandchild, Oliver Edward Dowd.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernice O'Pry; a daughter, Kathleen O'Pry and her parents, Noah and Marie (Thibodeaux) Doucet, Sr.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Wednesday and continue from 8:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday by Deacon Bryne Winn.
Mrs. O'Pry, a volunteer at the Guest Home for over twenty years, was a member of the VFW post 9903 Auxiliary and the Church Point Rosary Group.
