Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October19, 2016 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Willet Joseph Carriere, 79. Mr. Carriere, a native and long-time resident of rural St. Landry Parish near Lewisburg, LA, died Sunday morning, October 16 at his residence. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Muasoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point. Survivors include a son, Steve Carriere of Navarre FL; two brothers, Joe Carriere and wife Lois of Opelousas, LA and Ricky Carriere and wife Cary of Rayne, LA; three sisters, Wilda Bourque of Lewisburg, LA, Alma Broussard and husband Richard of Rayne, LA and Brenda Richard and husband Ronald of Scott, LA and two grandchildren, Peter Carriere of New York, NY and Steven Carriere of Columbus, NJ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Carriere; a son, Larry Carriere; his parents, Yves and Aline LeJeune Carriere and two brothers, Burton Carriere and Kenneth Carriere. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 18 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Wednesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday by Monsignor Deblanc. Mr. Carriere was a retiree of the LA Department of Transportation and Development.
