Church Point, La. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Guidry Funeral Home, Church Point, La. for Weston Cormier, 72. Mr. Cormier, a long-time resident of Lewisburg, La., died at 1:30 P.M. Friday, March 26 at his residence there. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Nathan McBride Family Cemetery near Church Point.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Audrey McBride Cormier of Lewisburg; two daughters, Dr. Stephania Ann Cormier of Slidell, La. and Tammy Cormier Lavergne of Lewisburg; a brother, Leo Cormier and wife Norma of Port Arthur, Tex.; three sisters: Janell Thibodeaux and husband Eugene of Sorrento, La., Eva Cason and husband Roland and Sandra Fontenot and husband Carl, all of Prairieville, La. and three grandchildren, Hunter Fabian Dronette, Gracie Elizabeth Lavergne and Hallie Blane Lavergne. He had special nieces and nephews who considered him a father figure.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Essie and Louise Babineaux Cormier; a brother, Charles Cormier; a niece, Brenda Cormier; two nephews, Robert and Randy Cormier; a great niece, Lilly Ann Charles and a great nephew, Chad Cormier.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 27 and continue from 9:00 A.M. Sunday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be led by Deacon Bryne Winn at 7:00 P.M. on Saturday.
Mr. Cormier established Weston's Meat Market & Grocery Store in Lewisburg in 1957 and enjoyed running it until 1998, when he sold the business and retired. He was a St. Landry Parish School Board bus driver for some thirty years, retiring in 1998.
