Obituary

Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, La. for Warren Joseph Bourgeois, 92. Mr. Bourgeois, a native of Evangeline, La. and long-time resident of Church Point, died at 6:00 A. M. Wednesday, February12 at Jennings American Legion Hospital in Jennings, La. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Highway 35 north of Church Point.

He will be greatly missed by two sisters, Theresa Thibodeaux of Church Point and Margaret B. Olivier of Moss Bluff, La.; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four stepchildren, five step grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and his "Poker Squad" at the Veterans Home in Jennings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter J. and Marie McBride Bourgeois; his wives, Martha F. and Alma T. Bourgeois; a son, John Lemuel Bourgeois; three brothers, Wallace, Gabriel and Hardy Bourgeois and two sisters, Mary B. Richard and Anasthasia B. Miller.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Friday, February14 and continue from 9:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday by Monsignor DeBlanc.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Veterans Home for the care and concern shown Mr. Bourgeois and his family during his stay there.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, Mr. Bourgeois worked for some fifty years in various capacities at Church Point Wholesale, retiring as Plant Foreman of the bottling works there. Known and respected in the Church Point area, he was a tireless volunteer and supporter of civic and veterans causes and supported his local Church parish. The awards and titles his efforts garnered are a testament to the affection he earned from his hometown and country. He will be honored with a Flag Presentation Ceremony at the time of services.
