Funeral Services will be held at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 12, 2007 for Dr. Ward Moise Bellard, M.D., 85, a native and life-long resident of Church Point. Dr. Bellard passed away at 7:00 A.M. Saturday, Nov. 10 at his residence. Father Jefferson Deblanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the church mausoleum.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Mizzi Bellard of Church Point; two sons: Lee Ward Bellard and Paul Bellard and wife Melanie all of Church Point; one daughter: Anne Moss and husband Bob of Houston, Texas and one brother, Chester Bellard of Jackson, Mississippi. He is also survived by five granddaughters, Erin & Taylor Bellard and Allison, Elizabeth & Stacie Moss.
He was preceded in death by his parents Moise and Dora Harmon Bellard and one brother Larry A. Bellard.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. Sunday and continue from 8:00 A.M. Monday until time of services.
Dr. Bellard was a 1938 graduate of Church Point High School and completed his schooling at L.S.U. Medical School in 1950. He began his practice in Church Point and served area residents for 55 years. He served during World War II as a member of the United States Army. A Fourth Degree Knight, Dr. Bellard was a member of the Bishop Jules B. Jeanmard Assembly and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 2504 of Church Point, La. He was also a member ot the American Medical Association, the Southern Medical Association, the Louisiana State Medical Association and the Acadia Parish Medical Society. He was also a member of American Legion Post 225 of Church Point. Our thanks and love to his caretaker, Gwyn Lavergne, who was so kind and good to him.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Sunday by Father Jefferson Deblanc.
