Church Point, LA: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 21, 2025 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Mrs. Wanda Smith Doucet, 86, who passed away at 9:50 AM Wednesday, July 16 at her residence. Fr. Brian Harrington, Pastor of the Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the Burial Rite in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35.
Wanda, a life-long resident of Church Point, was the daughter of Elton Smith and the former Leola Sonnier. A cherished member of the Catholic Daughters of America and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, she was the epitome of a loving family woman. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and mother-in-law; she poured her heart into her relationships. Her dedication to her Catholic faith was unwavering and she exemplified numerous virtues that endeared her to all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, David and wife Paula of Rayne and Kevin of Van Alstyne, TX; her four grandchildren: Claire, Mathieu (Taylor), Erin (Scott) and Sarah (Barry); her great-grandchildren: Kirsten, Jeremiah, Brantley, Wes, Cadeley, Kodi Rose, Everley, Khloe, Scarlett and Finnley; her sisters, Winnie Richard and Penny Ortego; her brothers, Burnie Smith (Sue), Kenneth Smith (Marie), Larry Smith (Betty) and Charles Smith (Jennifer). She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 64 years, Ray Allen Doucet.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Sunday, July 20, from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until the time of the Services. A Rosary will be recited in the funeral home Sunday evening at 6:00 PM.
