Church Point, LA:          A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, September 18, 2023 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mrs. Virgie Mae Courville, 86, who passed away at 3:10 PM Thursday at her residence. Fr. Mitchell Guidry, Pastor of St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove, will be the Celebrant of the Mass with burial following in the Monsignor Bienvenu Cemetery on Hwy 35.

Virgie, a native and resident of Church Point, was the daughter of the late Richard Cary and the former Edna Darbonne. A talented, energetic, devout and devoted wife, mother and grandmother; Mrs. Courville was a Eucharistic Minister, choir member and parishioner of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a volunteer and member of multiple organizations in our town, including the Cajun Ladies, The Catholic Daughters of America and The Rosary Group and was a Pageant Director of the Church Point Buggy Festival. Virgie will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Eric Courville of Church Point; her two daughters, Debbie Darbonne and husband Harold and Michelle Latiolais and husband Tommy-all of Church Point; her four sons, James Nelson Courville and wife Pam, Chad Courville and wife Tammy and Kevin Courville-all of Church Point and Ronald Courville and wife Jeanine of Morgan City, LA; a sister, Nelma Daigle of Plaquemine, LA; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Marie Courville.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Sunday, September 17, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and continue from 8:00 AM Monday until the time of the funeral mass. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 6:30 Sunday evening by Fr. Guidry.
