Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Violet Mae Leger, 71, the former Violet Mae Guidry. Mrs. Leger, a native of Church Point and long-time resident of Bristol, La., died Saturday, January 28 at her residence. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Monsignor C.A. Bienvenu Cemetery on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include J.E. "Buster" Leger of Bristol, the father of her children; three sons, Mark Allen Leger and wife Angie of Opelousas, La., Brent Christopher Leger and wife Linda of Bristol and Randal Jake Leger and wife Tammy of Bossier City, La.; six daughters: Amber L. Higginbotham and husband Sammy and Celinna L. Benoit and husband Cade-all of Church Point, Sedonia L. Abate and husband Thomas of Carencro, La., Taminy L. Doucet and husband Glen of Bristol, Malana Badeaux and companion Adam Soileau of Rayne, La. and Medley L. Hart and husband Scott 0f Rollett, Tex.; a brother, Herman Guidry of Church Point; three sisters, Mary Elise Daigle and Terri Zerangue of Church Point and Jeanette Daigle of Rayne; twenty-three grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Leus and Aline (Comeaux) Guidry; an infant daughter, Sondra Leger and two brothers, Austin and Burton Guidry.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Monday, January 30 and continue from 9:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday by her grandson, Brice Higginbotham.
