Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 18, 2011 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Church Point for Vilfray John Doucet, 75. Mr. Doucet, a native and life-long resident of Church Point, died at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 16 at his residence. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include his wife, Eula Mae Doucet of Church Point; his children, Lisa Doucet Lavergne and husband Troy and Gary Doucet and wife Sylvia-all of Church Point; his siblings: Wilbert Doucet of Groves, Tex., Etienne Doucet, Jr.and Shirley Kidder of Church Point and Lelia Doucet and Letha Mae Seaux of Lafayette, La. and his grandchildren: Ryan and Adrienne Lavergne and Andrea and Justin Doucet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Etienne, Sr. and Edna (Venable) Doucet and three siblings: Gladys Schexnayder and Sidney and Vila Joe Doucet.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 17 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Monday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday by Monsignor DeBlanc.
Pallbearers will be Jody and Wesley Doucet, Kenneth Myers, Fredrick Guidry, Junior Cannon and Chad Labbe. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Doucet and Ryan Lavergne. Readers will be Angela Cannon and Adrienne Lavergne and gifts will be borne by Adrienne Lavergne, Andrea Doucet, Justin Doucet and Ryan Lavergne.
Mr. Doucet was a retiree of Church Point Wholesale where he worked for some forty-seven years. A devoted family man who was truly proud of his children and grandchildren, he enjoyed playing cards, "French" music and cooking for his family.
