Church Point, La. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for Veronica DeValcourt Day, 67, who passed away at 5:25 pm on Tuesday, December 22 at Opelousas General Medical Center in Opelousas, LA.
Veronica, a resident of Church Point, LA, was the daughter of the late Ira DeValcourt and the former Grace Marie Thibodeaux.
She is survived by one daughter, Tonya L. May and husband Craig of Bradenton, FL; one grandson, Dirk May of Bradenton; two sisters, Ronnie Palmer and Irene Foshee; six brothers, Olden, Joel, Gary, Bill, Frank, and Chris DeValcourt; one half-sister, Toni Daigle and one half-brother, Michael Daigle .
She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Kelsey Rae Hackett and one sister, Renee Ebert.
Veronica worked for 20 years in purchasing for the hospitality industry in both Louisiana and Las Vegas, NV. She was known locally as an exceptional seamstress, sewing wedding dresses and altering school uniforms for the local residents of Church Point. She always found ways to add value to the people that surrounded her. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
The family requests that memorial visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 29 from 1:00 pm until the time of services.
