Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Valrie Guidry Borne Cormier, 88, the former Valrie Ann Guidry. Mrs. Cormier, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Wednesday Morning, August 24 at her residence. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Hwy 35 north of Church Point. Survivors include her husband, Albert Cormier of Church Point; three sons, Randy Borne and wife Priscilla of Belle Chasse, LA, David Borne of Thibodeaux, LA and Louis Borne of Rayne, LA; a daughter, Cindy Marcantel and husband Fred of Church Point; a sister, Eldine Colligan of Baton Rouge, LA; eleven grandchildren: Rachelle Borne Lagarde, Rebecca Borne Amos, Emily Borne McKean, Brittany Borne Aldrich, Megan, Sydney, Ryan and Tyler Borne, Jonathon and Laura Ann Boudreaux and Nichole Robinson; eight great-grandchildren: Carrie Lynn Dufrene, Josee and Jay Robinson, McKenzie McKean, Ava Aldrich, Paul and Lily Borne and Randel Amos; two great-great-grandchildren, Cory Romo and Oren Dufrene and four step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Ethel LaFleur Guidry; her first husband, Oscar L. "Paco" Borne, Jr. and four siblings: Jeanette Franchebois, Eloise Guidry Carte, Burton Guidry and Sidney Guidry, Sr. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 3:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Monday, August 29 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. by Monsignor DeBlanc. Currently living in retirement, Mrs. Cormier was a supervisor of the U.S. Post Office for over thirty years. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for some sixty-three years and an OLSH Eucharistic Minister, an active member of Home Demonstration and associated with many charities for many years. The family wishes to thank Heart of Hospice and Jenna Miller for her special care and wish special thanks to Shirley Chachere for her forty years of faithful service, to "First Name Basis" and these employees, Tiffany, Shemika, and Tezz and to private employees, Yolanda and Linda.
