Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, La. for Thomas Fruge, 84. Mr. Fruge, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Sunday afternoon, June 21 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, La. Monsignor Russell Harrington will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Sonnier Fruge of Church Point; three sons, Mike Fruge and wife Judy Wimberly Fruge of Angleton, Tex. and Mitchell Fruge and wife Arleen Prejean Fruge and Tim Fruge and wife Jon Menard Fruge-all of Church Point; a daughter, Janise Fruge Dupre and husband Bill of Kissimmee, Fla.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Celemine Gay Fruge and a brother and three sisters.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 23 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Wednesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday by Deacon Bryne Winn.
Mr. Fruge, a long-time member of the Saddle Tramp Riding Club, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. His family will be presented a U.S. Flag as a token of appreciation for his service.
