Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Theresa Benoit, 80, the former Theresa Ann Doucet. Mrs. Benoit, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Monday morning, July 31at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point. Pere David Rozas will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point. Survivors include two sons, Paul Benoit and wife Christine of Church Point and Ryan Benoit and wife Katie of Lafayette, LA; three daughters, Phyllis Britt and husband Matt of Opelousas, La, Carla Nolan of Maurice, LA and Ellen Benoit (Eric Viator) of Youngsville, LA; two brothers, Darrel Doucet and wife Mary Ann of Opelousas and Adam Doucet, Jr. and wife Barbara of Church Point, LA; four sisters: Carrie Belleau and husband Hubert of Chataignier, LA, Leona Lavergne and husband Linus of Lafayette and Evelina Owens and husband Jim and Eda Daigle-all of Rayne, LA; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eldon "Black" Benoit; her parents, Adam Doucet, Sr and Lucia Sonnier Doucet and a brother, Harry Doucet. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 1 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Wednesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday by Deacon Byrne Winn. Pallbearers will be Clayton and Chad Benoit, Austin LaFont, Eric Viator, Jeremy Robin and Cole Babineaux with Daven Benoit as an honorary pallbearer.
