Church Point, LA:         A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 20, 2022 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Shirley D. Kidder, 73, the former Shirley Ann Doucet. Mrs. Kidder, a native and lifetime resident of Church Point, passed away Wednesday morning, May 18 at the Carpenter House in Lafayette, LA. Rev. Father Brian Harrington, pastor of the church, will be the celebrant of the Mass and entombment will be in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.

She is survived by her daughter, Shelley Domingue and husband Ivan of Sulphur, LA; her grandchildren, Trevor Domingue and wife Anna and Cade Domingue; a great-grandchild, Wesley Domingue; a brother, Etienne Doucet, Jr. and her extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Etienne Doucet, Sr. and Edna Venable Doucet; four brothers: Villa Joe, Vilfrey, Wilbert and Sidney Doucet and three sisters: Lelia Doucet, Letha Mae Seaux and Gladys Schexnayder.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Thursday, May 19 and continue from 8:00 AM Friday until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 7:00 PM Thursday by family member Beverly Rayon. Pallbearers will be Gary and Wesley Doucet, Ryan and Troy Lavergne and Trevor and Cade Domingue. A loving, family-oriented mother and grandmother; Mrs. Kidder was City Clerk for the Town of Church Point for a number of years. She will truly be missed.
