Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Shevonne Cormier Tweedel, 58, who passed away at 9:20 PM Tuesday, March 24 at her residence. Msgr. Jefferson J. Deblanc, Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral services with burial in the St. John Cemetery in Lewisburg, La.

Shevonne, a resident of Lewisburg, was the daughter of the late Joseph Alton Cormier and the former Beulah Fontenot.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas B. Tweedel, Sr. of Lewisburg; two step- daughters, Shannon Tweedel and Toni Tweedel-both of Lewisburg; one step-son, Douglas "Dougie" Tweedel, Jr. of Krotz Springs, LA; two step-granddaughters, Kurstin and Ariana Tweedel of Lewisburg; her in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. James Tweedel, Sr. of Stuart, OK; her "children", Gizmo, Denim and Digidy II and a host of cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a step-daughter, Riki Tweedel.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, March 27 and continue from 9:00 am Saturday until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 6:30 pm Friday evening.

Shevonne, with a Masters of Education in teaching the "learning disabled", taught for some thirty-two years in local schools. A devout Catholic and tireless volunteer, she was a member of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish Council, The Catholic Daughters of America, a Eucharistic minister and a Church Lector; rising to the highest level of lay persons in the Diocese of Lafayette. Loved by her family, friends and associates, she will truly be missed.
