Sherman, a resident of Port Barre, LA, was the son of the late Rene Thibodeaux and the former Arcine Matte. A gifted bass player, he shared his love of Cajun music by performing with numerous local bands throughout the years, bringing joy to audiences across the region. His musical talents extended beyond the stage, as he proudly wrote four songs that were featured on the Seth Guidry CD, Les Larmes Dans Tes Yeux. Blessed with a true green thumb, he found great satisfaction in gardening and nurturing plants. When he wasn't making music or tending to his garden, he could often be found fishing on the water or enjoying time shooting his guns. His love of music, the outdoors, and the simple pleasures of life will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Linda M. Thibodeaux of Port Barre; his daughter, April Thibodeaux of Eunice, LA; his son, Sherman J. Thibodeaux, Jr. of Lawtell, LA; his step-children , Sheila Richard and husband Troy of Utica, MS, Madori LaHaye of Carencro, LA, Angela Fontenot and husband Joe of Lawtell, Teri Lynn Cormier and companion Kelly Huval of New Iberia, LA and Kevin Cormier of Opelousas, LA; fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven sisters and three brothers.

Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc.; 219 N. Broadway, Church Point, LA.
