Church Point, LA:     A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 5, 2024 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for Shanica B. Smith, 46, the former Shanica Katherine Batiste. Mrs. Smith, a native of St. Martinville, LA and resident of Branch, LA, died Monday morning, April 1, at her residence. Deacon Byrne Winn will conduct the Service with interment following at a later date.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Smith, Jr. of Branch; a daughter, Jhalaycea Skye Smith of Branch; her sons: Richard Devante Smith and wife Sparkle of Crowley, LA and Travon Samuel Smith and Deiondrick Jamal Batiste-all of Branch; her grandchildren: Richard Devon, Ri'Chad, Ri'Chyla, Ri'Ched, Ri'Quan and Tristen Mylik Smith and a sister, Shonia Batiste of St. Martinville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Anna Marie Patterson Batiste.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the time of services on Friday.

Mrs. Smith, an RN at Ochsner Acadia General Hospital in Crowley, LA, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and the "Queen of Couponing". Truly loved, she will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Smith will be honored with a "Nurse's Tribute" at the Service.
