Church Point, LA:     A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for SFC Mentor "Te" Carriere, Jr., US ARMY RET., 89. Sgt. Carriere, a resident of St. Landry Parish, died Saturday morning, August 30 at his daughter's residence in Lafayette, LA. Fr. Brian Harrington, Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will conduct the Service with entombment immediately following in the OLSH Mausoleum on Hwy 35.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Lavergne Carriere of Church Point; a daughter, Tanya Gonsoulin of Lafayette, a son, Jimmy Dale Carriere of Lafayette, LA; a grandchild, Duston Carriere; his great-grandchildren, Dawson and Paisley Carriere; his sisters-in-law, Bertha Lavergne and Barbara Carriere and his brothers, Bobby Carriere of Opelousas, LA and Raphael Carriere of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mentor, Sr. and Alma Lavergne Carriere; an infant sister; a brother, Julius Carriere and a son-in-law, Sidney Gonsoulin.

Visitation will be held at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 AM Thursday until the time of the Service. A Rosary will be recited at 2:30 PM by Deacon Byrne Winn.

A proud retired U.S. Army NCO with more than twenty-two years of service that included Viet Nam and Europe; Mr. Carriere was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved to garden. Truly loved, he will be honored with a Military Flag Presentation and Honors by Mr. Lincoln Savoie and the St. Landry Veterans Honor Guard preceding entombment. He will be missed by all who knew him.
