Church Point, La. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Mrs. Ruth Richard, 92, the former Ruth Fontenot. Mrs. Richard, a native and life long resident of Church Point, died at 3:15 P.M. Wednesday, March 3 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point, La. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Highway 35 North, Church Point.

Survivors include one son, Kermit John "Bubba" Richard, Jr. and wife Theresa of Sulphur, La.; four daughters, Jackie Pittman of French Settlement, La., Cathy Arabie and husband Jessie of Lake Charles, La., Theresa Myers of Jennings, La. and Marie Hardy and husband Randy of Jasper, Texas. She is also survived by two sisters, Beulah Cormier and Rosa Mae Cormier, both of Lewisburg, La.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kermit J. Richard, Sr.; her grandson, Kurtis J. Richard and a great-grandchild, Calli Donaldson.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Friday, March 5 and continue from 9:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:30 P.M. Friday by Monsignor DeBlanc.

Mrs. Ruth was a generous lady whose interests included gardening, a great love of animals and a passion for food..
