Church Point, LA:    Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for Mr. Rufus Joseph Fontenot, Jr. who passed away at 7:10 AM Thursday, February 13 at Maison de Lafayette in Lafayette, LA.

Deacon Byrne Winn will officiate at the Funeral Service and Interment immediately following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on LA Hwy 35 north of Church Point.

Rufus, the son of Rufus Joseph Fontenot, Sr. and Frances McBride Fontenot, was a native and long-time resident of Church Point and a resident at Maison de Lafayette (MDL) until his passing.

Survivors include his two sisters, Mona Blakeway (Bill) of Slidell, LA, and Tina Broussard (Matt) of Lafayette; two brothers, Reginald Fontenot (Brenda) of Richard, LA and Richard Fontenot (Violy) of Lafayette; a brother-in-law, John Turner of Slidell; three nieces, Andrea Blakeway Imms (Brady) of Kenner, LA and Lezia Broussard Boudreaux (Chris) and Lauryn Broussard of Lafayette; two nephews, Ben Turner (Kendall) of Lakewood, CO and Chris Turner (Rhiana) of Denver, CO; two great-nieces, Cecilia & Stella Imms and two great-nephews, William & Johnny Imms. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carla Turner.

The family extends special thanks to his caregivers at MDL and to the staff of Hospice of Acadiana.

Visitation will take place Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 12:45 PM.
