Church Point, LA:         A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for Rose "Granny" Richard, 79, the former Rose Marie McBride. Mrs. Richard, a long-time resident of rural St. Landry Parish near Sunset, LA, passed away Sunday evening, June 21 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home. Deacon Bryne Winn will conduct the services with committal in the St. John Cemetery adjacent to the chapel in Lewisburg, LA.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Lloyd Richard of Church Point; her sons, David Richard and wife Shontelle, Dean Richard and wife Christine, Neil Richard and wife Verna and Chad Richard and wife Stacy-all of Church Point; two brothers, Merlin McBride and Howard McBride and wife Jeanette-all of Church Point; two sisters, Rebecca Lavergne of Rayne, LA and Catherine Capella of Baker, LA; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anderson and Eunice Doucet McBride and two brothers and two sisters. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 2:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 23 and continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday by Deacon Winn. Pallbearers will be David, Neil, Chad, Josh and Trey Richard and Eric Pitre. Honorary pallbearers will be Merlin and Howard McBride and Layne and Bryce Richard. A loving and generous mother and grandmother, Mrs. Richard will truly be missed by her extended family and friends.
