Church Point, LA:         A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Rosalie Venable, 86, the former Rosalie Lyons. Mrs. Venable, a long-time resident of Church Point, passed away Sunday morning, October 25 at her current residence in Lafayette, LA. Reverend Louis Richard will be the celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the committal services in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.
She is survived by her sons, Randy Venable (Kathy) and René Venable (Angela) of Lafayette and Reggie Venable (Sonia) of Carencro, LA; her daughters, Paulette Venable of Church Point and Ann Venable of Lafayette; her grandchildren: Courtney, Briley, Cassie (Scotty), Brian (Megan), Chris (Phoebe), Blake, Sara, Paul, Talia (Jacob), Ethan, and Kenadi, her great-grandchildren: Katherine, Caroline, Michael, Baby Liam (due to arrive soon) and her "fur grandbaby", Shirley Mae; her brothers, Windsor (Lola) of Carencro and Chester (Vickie) of Lafayette and a sister, Ursula (Don) of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lydia Lyons; husband, Leopold Venable, Sr.; a son, Leopold Venable, Jr.; a grandson, Jared Venable; a granddaughter, Erin Venable and siblings: Frankena, Bertha, Lorraine, Floyd and Warren. Mrs. Venable, owner of "The Bears Drive Inn" for many years, also worked as a pharmacy tech at Quibby's Pharmacy and as a CNA until retirement. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM on Tuesday, October 27 and continue from 8:00 AM Wednesday until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 6:30 PM Tuesday by two of her nieces. Pallbearers will be Courtney, Briley and Ethan Venable; Paul Benoit, Scotty Robin and Jacob Salas. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian and Chris Venable. The family would like to thank the staff of Grace Hospice and her daughter Paulette for the care they provided. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway St., Church Point, LA is in charge of final arrangements.
