Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 18, 2008 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Church Point for Robert James "Bob" Cates, Sr.; 59. Mr. Cates, a native of Pasadena, Texas and long-time resident of Church Point, died at 5:50 P.M. Monday, December 15 at his residence. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum; Highway 35, Church Point.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Larson Cates of Church Point; three sons: James Cates and companion Cristi of Mamou, La.; Louis Anderson and wife Rhonda of Broussard, La. and Ricky Cates and wife Jamie of Church Point; three sisters: Jo Ann Curran of Church Point, Robeline Oliphant of Key Largo, Florida and Lucille Chrzan of Naples, Florida. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Lance, Tori, Tyler and Gabby Cates, Makayla and Will Anderson, Kaneon and Alexis Dupuis and Trenton Latiolais.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R. P. and Alta Loys Zuber Cates and a brother, Calvin Cates of Cleveland, Texas.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 17 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of the services.

A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday by Monsignor DeBlanc.
