Church Point, La.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, La. for Rita Mae Matte, 64, who passed away at 12:31 am Friday, February 27 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX.
Deacon Byrne Winn will conduct the funeral services with burial taking place in Msgr. C.A. Bienvenu Cemetery on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.
Mrs. Matte, a resident of Church Point, was the daughter of the late Ivy Benoit and the former Palmire Romero.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Peter V. Matte of Church Point; one daughter, Renee M. Guidry and husband Tom of San Antonio, TX; one son, Victor Wayne Matte and wife Terrie of Roberts Cove, LA; three grandchildren, Jacob Guilbeau, Timothy Guidry and Emily G. Stagg; three great-grandchildren, Chloe and Ethan Guilbeau, Jaylynn Stagg and "soon to be" Ava Renee Stagg; four sisters, Rose Breaux, Helen Jones, Patricia Boudreaux and Elvina Ware and three brothers, John Carpenter, Jr., Charles Carpenter and Rodrick Carpenter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Virginia Credeur and one brother, Paul Benoit.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Sunday, March 1from 8:00 am until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home Sunday at 12:00 noon.
