Rita Thelma David Parrott, a tough, terrific, strong, wonderful French Acadian woman and Devout Catholic, was born in Church Point, Louisiana, January 15, 1925 and peacefully left this world May 19, 2011. Rita moved to New Orleans in the sixties and found her final resting place in Ponchatoula, Louisiana where she lived with, and was cared for, by her son Williamson David "Bill" Parrott, and his wife Eva McCain Parrott. Her parents were the late Gilbert and Aline David of Church Point, La.
Rita's other children are James Robert "Bobby" Parrott of Tunica, Mississippi, the late Elizabeth Aline "Betty" Parrott Reinke of St. Paul, Minnesota, Cynthia Parrott "Cindie" Brooks of Austin, Texas, Wilbur Anthony " Will" Parrott of San Antonio, Texas, and James Daniel "Jim" Parrott of Houma, Louisiana. Her late husband was James Robert Parrott, Sr. of Church Point, La.
Her eight siblings include: the late Donald "Buck" David, the late Francis David, the late Jennette David Guidry, the late Viola David McBride, the late Cecelia David Parrott, the late Louis David Harmon, Theresa "Tisha" David Brouillette of Marksville, La. and Johnny David of Church Point, La.
Her grandchildren whom she Loved so much include: Karyssa, Kim, Shaela, Kristin, Blake, Michelle, Preston, Whitney, James, Ally and Amy. She is also survived by eleven beautiful great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends that are too many to list!
"ReeRee" as she was so lovingly called by her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always be remembered for her southern hospitality, bottomless generosity and energy, Louisana charm, kindness and utmost devotion to family. Her great joy in life was raising her six children, especially taking trips with her younger three boys and educating them.
It was impossible to find a better cook—gumbo, shrimp mosca, maqué choux, Cajun roast and crawfish etouffee were among some of her specialties. All meals were followed by her famous chocolate Pie or home- made cookies or cakes. Rita's dinner table was a magnet for festive fun gatherings. Friends and "stop bys" were always welcome. Many "Taste Buds" are forever imprinted with her great culinary magic.
One dear granddaughter said about "Ree Ree", "The best thing about being a Parrott has always been having Rita Parrott as my grandmother. "Ree Ree", your "old bones" can rest now. I love you, my little "Ree."
Her Motto was "Education is the Key" -- she was also a big fan of clean living , strict Catholicism and hard work. She was a stellar role model for those she leaves behind.
