Church Point, LA: Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon Friday, May 16, 2025 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for James Ricky Latiolais, 70. Mr. Latiolais, a native of Church Point and resident of Lafayette, LA, died Monday, May 12. Fr. Mike Vidrine, Parochial Vicar of the Church, will conduct the Services with Entombment immediately following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35.
Survivors include his children, Jessica Perkins and husband Nicholas of Breaux Bridge, LA and Eric Latiolais and wife Ashley of Youngsville, LA; his grandchildren: Bryce, Jace and Kamryn Latiolais, Jeter Perkins and Breckin and Elliott Savoie; his significant other, Donna Riche of Gretna, LA; his siblings: Gwen Boudreaux and husband Ronnie of Church Point, Wade Latiolais of Youngsville and his significant other Candy Leger of Church Point, Tommy Latiolais and wife Michelle of Church Point, Tyler Latiolais and significant other Dana Benoit of Prairie Ronde, LA, Morgan Latiolais and wife Lauren of Church Point and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdie and Thelma Thibodeaux Latiolais.
Visitation will be held at Guidry Funeral Home from 8:00 AM until the time of Services. A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM by Deacon Byrne Winn.
A 1972 graduate of Church Point High; Mr. Latiolais attended USL (where he was a baseball pitcher for a year) and then worked in oilfield sales until retirement. An avid softball player until recently, he competed across the country and was inducted into the USSSA and ASA Halls of Fame in 2006 and 2016. He engaged in the Sports Reach Prison Ministry sharing Bible Studies with inmates. A loving father and dedicated grandfather; he enjoyed working out at Red's, talking with friends, playing ball with the grandkids and supporting them at all of their events. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
