Obituary



Church Point, LA:    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, February 6, 2023 at Our Lady of The Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Mr. Reivers Faul, 96, who passed away at 7:55 PM Thursday, February 2 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home. Fr. Brian Harrington, pastor of the church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass with entombment immediately following in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35.

Reivers, a life-long resident of Church Point, was the son of the late Valmont Faul and the former Aldegon  Vasseur. A devoted runner, Mr. Faul logged a total of 55,000 miles in his lifetime and participated in the Boston Marathon at age 62. A WWII Army veteran, he owned and operated Faul's Barber Shop for over 53 years, served his local community as a city councilman for 16 years-serving as Mayor Pro Tem for 8 of those years. He also sat on the board of the Church Point Housing authority and was a member of the VFW, KC's and the American Legion.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved daughters, Cheryl Richard and husband James  and Gwyn Faul and Danita Smith-all of Church Point; nine grandchildren: James Richard and wife Tracy of Woodstock, GA, Eric Lavergne and wife Tina of Church Point, Damian Lavergne and fiancee Nicole of Broussard, La., John Richard and wife Donna of Orlando, FL., Ashley Latiolais and husband Chad of Church Point, Jeffery Richard and wife Brooke of Braselton, GA, Kyle Smith of Church Point, Brent Lavergne and wife Brittany of Lafayette, LA and Katherine Latiolais and husband Blake of Church Point; twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Huval and husband Ernest of Baton Rouge, LA and Eva Jane Miller of Texas; one brother, Clinton Faul of Church Point; a special friend and companion, Doris Breaux and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Tiny Faul; an infant son, Buford Joseph Faul; two great-grandchildren, Brenley and Blakeleigh Latiolais; five sisters, Mabel Dies, Mavis Doiga, Emma Bellard, Theresa Briscoe and Liera Poche and six brothers: Maurice, Gervais, Emery, R.A. and Gilbert Faul and Valmont Faul, Jr.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Sunday, February 5, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and continue on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of services. A rosary will be recited Sunday evening at 6:00 PM in the funeral home. He will be honored with a Flag Presentation at the time of services. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway St., Church Point, LA is in charge of final arrangements.
