Church Point, LA:     Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Regina "Ginger" Smith, 85, the former Regina Sonnier. Mrs. Smith, a long-time resident of St. Landry Parish near Church Point, died Sunday afternoon, October 6 at Acadia-St. Landry Nursing and Rehab Center in Church Point. Fr. Brian Harrington, Pastor of the Church, will conduct the Services with Interment Immediately following in the OLSH Cemetery on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.

Survivors include her daughters, Christine Gauthier and husband Jody of Youngsville, LA and Michelle Smith and partner Lance Gautreaux of Sunset, LA; her sons, Troy Smith and wife Karen of Church Point, Kirt Smith and wife Lisa of Arnaudville, LA and Buddy Smith and wife Pam of new Iberia, LA; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a brother, John Gregory Sonnier of Sunset. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Linus Smith; her parents, Emery and Louise Bourque Sonnier; her sisters, Margaret Elaine and Rose Marie Sonnier and Lisa Ann Sonnier Bourque and her brothers, Emery Sonnier, Jr., James Carol "Jimmy" Sonnier and Joseph Valerie "JoJo" Sonnier.

Visitation will be held at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until the time of Services on Thursday. A Rosary will be recited at 1:00 PM by Fr. Harrington.

An LPN for a number of years who took pride in her work and appearance; Mrs.  Smith was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Truly loved, she will be missed by all who knew her.
