Church Point, LA: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for James Rayo Daugereau, Sr., 88. Mr. Daugereau, a native and lifetime resident of Church Point, passed away Sunday morning, April 3 at his residence. Monsignor Russell Harrington will be the celebrant of the Mass and entombment will be in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Dell Bergeron Daugereau of Church Point; his sons, David Bertrand and wife Dr. Sue Abshire of Port Barre, LA and James "Bubba" Daugereau, Jr. and wife Jodi of Duson, LA; his daughters: Tina Gaspard and husband Paul of Lafayette, LA, Sabrina Courville and Kenneth Vaughn of Scott, LA, Nadine LeJeune and husband Lyndon of Rayne, LA and Melanie Thevis and husband Monte of Duson; a brother, Allen Daugereau of Lafayette, LA; his sisters, Mondell D'Augereaux and husband Robert McBride of Church Point and Sandra Comeaux and husband Kenneth of Crowley, LA; fifteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren (expecting a twentieth) and his extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Amelian Savoy Daugereau; a sister, Nadine Daugereau and a son-in-law, Rocky Courville.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 AM Thursday until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 11:00 AM Thursday by Kenneth Bergeron. A Korean War U.S. Air Force veteran, Mr. Daugereau was a Union Texas plant manager for a number of years. An avid fisherman and duck hunter (with his Labrador, Sam), he loved to barbeque, spend time at the camps in Holly Beach, Butte LaRose and Toledo Bend and loved to dance with his wife. It was said, "they danced as one". He will be honored with a Flag Presentation Ceremony at the time of services. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway St., Church Point, LA is in charge of final arrangements.
