Lawtell, La. A mass will be held for Raymond Joseph Doucet, age 83, at St. Bridget Church; Highway 35, Lawtell, La. at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 followed by interment in the church cemetery. Father Austin Leger will conduct the services.
Mr. Doucet, born in Church Point, La., was a long-time resident of Lawtell, La. Raymond passed away on Saturday, September 11 at 3:00 A.M. at his residence. He married Irene Theresa Miller on November 30, 1946, in Lawtell, La. Raymond is survived by his spouse, Irene, and their six children: Hilton Joseph Doucet, married to Sandra Darbonne Doucet of Lawtell; Mary Doucet Carvell of Lawtell; Jenny Doucet-Cronin, married to Robert A. Cronin of Phoenix, Az.; Theresa Doucet Seabrook, married to Rick Seabrook of State Line, Ms.; Carolyn Doucet Deprimo, married to Dominick Deprimo of Washington, La. and Susan Doucet Rodkey, married to Christopher Rodkey of Milwaukee, Wi. Mr. Doucet is also survived by his 10 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren.
Mr. Doucet is predeceased by his parents Elie Doucet and Mae Darbonne Doucet; his siblings: Leroy Doucet, Parral Jean Doucet Breaux Schexneider, Barbara Doucet Meyers Fontenot and grandson Elie Joseph Doucet.
Raymond retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation with 30 years of service and was appointed as a St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Deputy from 1979-1980.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gambling and loved his frequent visits with the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and close friends.
Visiting hours will be observed at Guidry Funeral Home, Inc., on Monday, September 13 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM and will resume at 8:00 AM Tuesday until the time of services. A Rosary will be recited a 7:00 PM Monday followed by the Eulogy.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Pitre, Brian Stanford, Robert Rodkey, Joey Doucet, Jacob Deprimo and Chet Richard.
