Church Point, LA: Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, December 4, 2023 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Ray Allen Doucet, 85. Mr. Doucet, a native and resident of Church Point, died Sunday morning, December 3, 2023 at Ochsner Acadia General Hospital in Crowley, LA. Father Brian Harrington, Pastor of the Church, will conduct the Services with Entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include his wife with whom he spent 64 years of marriage, Wanda Smith Doucet; his children, David and wife Paula of Rayne and Kevin of Van Alseyne, TX; his four grandchildren: Claire, Mathieu (Taylor), Erin (Scott) and Sarah; his great-grandchildren: Kirsten, Jeremiah, Brantley, Wes, Cadeley, Kodi Rose, Everley, Khloe and Scarlett; his siblings: Elton and Herbert Doucet, Loretta Thibodeaux and Judy Colligan and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Odile Babineaux Doucet; a brother, Delton Doucet and his in-laws, Elton and Leola Sonnier Smith.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM on Monday, December 4 and continue from 8:00 AM Tuesday until the time of services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 PM by Deacon Byrne Winn. Pallbearers will be Mathieu and Tim Doucet, Scott Meyer, Burnie Smith, Danny Cormier and Ray Allen Richard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Thibodeaux, Wes Ewing, and Brantley Hodge.
Born in Richard, LA, Ray Allen graduated from Church Point High School in 1957 and retired as an engineer with the LA Dept of Transportation and Development after 30+ years. A Volunteer Fireman for 50+ years, twice serving as President, he also was a member of OLSH Catholic Church and the Church Point Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed visiting with family and loved it when the grandkids and great-grandkids were there, listening to French Music, cooking, baking and gardening.
