Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 7, 2012 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard, La. for Raphael "Ralph" Vanicor,74. Mr. Vanicor, a native and long-time resident of rural Acadia Parish near Church Point, died at 11:50 A.M. Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, La. Father Wayne Duet will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Highway 35 north of Church Point.

Survivors include a son, Marcus Vanicor and wife Marla of Church Point; a daughter, Jennifer Scanlan and husband Charles of Church Point; a sister, Della Richert and husband Jerry of Church Point; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sadie (Venable) Vanicor; his parents, Gervais and Rena (Richard) Vanicor and a grandson, Trae Vanicor.

The family requested that visiting hours begin at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 6 and continue uninterrupted until the time of the services on Friday. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday by Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc.

Mr. Vanicor was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 9436 in Richard and a member of the Acadia Parish and Louisiana Cattlemen's Associations.
