Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Church Point for Pearl Doiga Briscoe, 96 ,the former Pearl Dupuis. Mrs. Briscoe, a native of Vatican, La. and life-long resident of Church Point, died at 7: 06 P.M., Sunday, November 16, 2008 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home, Church Point. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Church Point.
She is survived by 141 descendants, including seven children: Helen Daigle and husband Johnny of Church Point, Rayford Doiga and wife Ella Mae and Jane Doiga Lejeune-all of Lawtell, La., Thomas Doiga and wife Cheryl of Baton Rouge, La., Bernita Doiga Chustz and Connie Francis and husband Larry- all of Gonzales, La. and Joseph Doiga and wife Linda of Walker, La.; a brother, Cleveland "Gee" Dupuis of Vatican, La.; 34 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and 29 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Doiga, father of their ten children; her second husband, Allen Briscoe; her parents, Frank and Isabelle Guidry Dupuis; her brothers, Pete and Valerie Dupuis; a sister, Mildred Keffer; an infant son, Harry Doiga; two daughters, Lou Ella Roy and Ruth Thibodeaux; a son-in-law, Kersey Lejeune; three grandchildren, Kenny and Thomas Doiga and Chad Francis and a great-grandchild, Summer Bergeron.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 P.M. until 10 P.M. on Tuesday and continue from 9:00 A.M. Wednesday until the time of services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday.
Pearl, born September 12, 1912, worked very hard during her 96 years; but she was rewarded by living long enough to have seen five generations of the Charles and Pearl Doiga family. She was much-loved by family and friends.
