Church Point, LA     Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for Mr. Paul Jenard Fontenot, 82, who passed away at 9:36 AM on Thursday, June 11 at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital of Lafayette, LA. Reverend Rick Hardwick of Point Church will conduct the funeral services with burial following in Bellevue Cemetery, Opelousas, LA.
Paul, a resident of Church Point, was the son of the late Adraste Fontenot and the former Marie Soileau. A loving husband, father and grandfather; he loved gardening, playing "Dominoes" and playing "Skip-Bo" with his family. A Viet Nam Era U.S. Army veteran, he will be honored with a Flag presentation ceremony at the time of services.
He is survived by one daughter, Lisa "Marie" Melancon and husband Shawn of Mire, LA; one son, Paul Brian Fontenot of Church Point and two grandchildren, Nicholas Melancon and wife Brittany of Longview, TX and Thomas Melancon of Independence, LA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Fontenot; his parents; one daughter, Angie Fontenot; three sisters, Agnes Joubert, Alzina Lejeune and Vernice Ortego and six brothers: Elridge, Ned, Nelton, Jimmy, Vernal and Delouis Fontenot.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Saturday, June 13 from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
