Obituary

Church Point, La. Memorial Services were held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Church Point Community Center for Mrs. Patty Guidry, 67, the former Patty Hebert; who died on Saturday evening, September 27, 2008 at her residence in Church Point. She was born in Church Point April 4, 1941 and has lived there since 1994 when she and her family returned after living in Kenai, Alaska since 1973. Deacon Bryne Winn conducted the services. As per her wishes, her remains were cremated and the disposition of Mrs. Guidry's remains were entrusted to her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Kateri Smith and husband Kenneth of Church Point; two sons: Marcus Guidry and wife Lisa of Soldotna, Ak. and Shane Guidry and wife Holly of Seattle, Wa.; her "very special" grandchildren: Brandi Jo Guidry of Church Point and Joshua Shane and Michelle Marie Guidry of Seattle, Wa.; two sisters-in-law: Martha Hebert of Lafayette, La. And Emma Guidry of Church Point and her Goddaughters, Bridget Gianfala and Gidget LeJeune- both of Church Point. Mrs. Guidry is also survived by a "very special" niece and nephew, Veronica Comeaux and Richard Guidry as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends in Alaska and Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Guidry; her parents, Paul and Lois Sonnier Hebert and her brother, Allen Hebert.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 P.M. Saturday until the time of the services and continue until 6:00 P.M thereafter. A recitation of the Rosary was held at 1:45 P.M. by Cynthia Carriere..
While living in Alaska, Mrs. Guidry was certified as a Master Certified Instructor by Duncan Paint/Ceramics. An owner (with her husband) of one of the largest ceramic shops in Alaska, she taught classes throughout the state. At the time of her retirement, Mrs. Guidry donated her business to the Correctional Center/Prison to teach inmates a trade. A talented artist, she won numerous awards; but always said her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren.
