Church Point, LA:         A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at St. John Berchmans Church in Cankton, LA for James Patrick "Pat" Richard, 62. Mr. Richard, a native and lifetime resident of rural St. Landry Parish near Cankton, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 4 at his residence. Monsignor Russell Harrington, friend of the family, will be the celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the committal services in the mausoleum adjacent to the church.
He is survived by his mother, Rowena "Rosie" Richard of Cankton; a brother, Michael A. Richard of Cankton; his sisters, Connie Johnson and husband Barney of Sunset, LA, Myra Johnson and husband Keith of Carencro, LA and Melinda Labbe and special friend Shane Courvelle of Sunset. He was preceded in death by his father, C.A. Richard and a sister, Paula Richard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 8:00 AM Tuesday until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 1:00 PM by family. Pallbearers will be Mike Richard; Barney, Keith and Lance Johnson; Bert Lavergne and Vaughn Savoie.

A butcher for a number of years, Mr. Richard was a devout Catholic and fun-loving and well-known and loved in his community. He will be missed. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway St., Church Point, LA is in charge of final arrangements.
