Obituary

Church Point, LA:     Nettie V. Thibodeaux, age 89, passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 4, 2020 at Courtyard Retirement Home in Lafayette, LA. In the interests of public safety and with regard for our families' feelings, a private graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point, LA. Père David Rozas will conduct the service with entombment immediately following. Mrs. Thibodeaux, born January 6, 1931, was one of six children born to Noah Veillon and Esola Attales Veillon of Ville Platte. She married Jack G. Thibodeaux and moved to his home town of Church Point and became a faithful member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church/St. John's Chapel.  She served on the Ladies Altar Society and taught bible study classes to children for her church. Her vocation was to be a loving mother. She raised five daughters and one son to honor God and their parents, to work hard, and to serve others with their gifts. All of her children and two grandchildren helped to serve as her night sitters for the last two and a half years of her life, after having served their ailing father at Courtyard. Nettie was very creative and enjoyed many things in life including sewing dresses for her girls, cooking good meals three times a day, cultivating daylilies, designing furniture for her husband to craft and studying the bible.  She had a deep thirst for God's word and a generous heart for helping those in need. She is survived by her six children: Charmaine Dupre (Henry), Jackie Kimball (John), June Picard (Jason), Annette Meagher (Patrick), Carla Madere (Brett) and Ricky Thibodeaux (Stephanie); her 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.The family would like to thank the loving staff of Lourdes Hospice and the staff at Courtyard Retirement Home, especially her wonderful sitters under the direction of Brenda James, for their untiring care of their mother. Donations in memory of Mrs. Nettie may be made to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 114 Bienvenu St., Church Point, LA 70525. Extended family, friends and members of the public are encouraged to recite the Rosary and pray for the deceased in their homes and to extend condolences to the family at www.guidryfuneralhome.com.
