Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Church Point, La. for Nelson "Joe" Cormier, 81. Mr. Cormier, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Tuesday afternoon, October 13at his residence. Pastor Berl Adams will conduct the services with interment following in the first Baptist Church Cemetery on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include a son, Nelson Kim Cormier and wife Paula of Church Point; two brothers, George Cormier and wife Ella Mae of Church Point and Melvin Cormier and wife Helen of Port Arthur, Tex. and two grandchildren, Zachary and Annie Cormier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Laura LeJeune Cormier; his wife, Beverly Brasseaux Cormier and a brother, Tommy Cormier.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until 10:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 14 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of the services.
AU.S. Army veteran of the Korean War Era, his family will receive an American Flag in appreciation of his service.
