Church Point, LA: A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for Michael "Mikee" Saucier, 71. Mr. Saucier, a native of Opelousas, LA and a resident of Church Point, passed away Monday evening, July 18 at his residence. Deacon Byrne Winn will conduct the service and interment will be in the Bellevue Memorial Park on Hwy 182 south of Opelousas.
He is survived by his sons, Brian Saucier and wife Amber of Opelousas and Mickey Saucier and wife Madeline of Church Point; his daughters, Andrea Montgomery and husband Shad of Youngsville, La and Brittany Moronta and husband Raffy of Frisco, TX; a stepson, Lindsey Saucier of Carencro, LA; a brother, John Saucier of Carencro, LA; three sisters: Rita Guidroz of Church Point, Aline "Lenee" Vidrine and husband Peter of Eunice, LA and Dana Wimberly and husband Larry of Iowa, LA and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vionel and Aurelia Lavergne Saucier; his late wife, Norma Saucier; a son, Chad Saucier and a granddaughter and grandson, Addison Clare Montgomery and Austin Hayes Moronta. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 8:00 AM Wednesday until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 11:30 AM by Deacon Winn. Michael was a Class A Operator for Freeport McMoran Sulphur Company, Main Pass 299, for approximately 30 years. He was an excellent cook and was often known as "Master Chef" at local venues such as the Church Point Buggy Festival and Our Mother of Peace Bazaar. Michael was a lover of clocks and had an extensive collection, which he enjoyed repairing as a hobby. In addition, Michael was an avid writer and enjoyed writing speeches for political candidates running for office. An employee of The Town of Church Point for a number of years; Michael was a "Free Mason", a member of Knights of Columbus Council 2504, Church Point and a founding member of the "Men of Bonding" and the "Gourmands Gentils" supper clubs. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway St., Church Point, LA is in charge of final arrangements.
