Church Point, LA:    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mrs. Meyona P. Matte, 75, who passed away at 2:39 PM Thursday, February 26, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center; Lafayette, LA. Fr. Michael Vidrine, Parochial Vicar of the Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the Burial Rite following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Hwy 35.

Meyona, a resident of Church Point, was the daughter of the late Walter Prevost and the former Vernice Bertrand. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of VFW Post 8971 in Eunice, LA and loved playing bingo. A loving wife, mother and grandmother; spending time with her grandbabies was truly her passion.

She is survived by her sons, Kevin Matte and wife Rachelle of Lafayette and Scotty Matte and wife Teta of Church Point; his daughters: Teri Matte Credeur and husband Shannon of Church Point, Jalaine Matte Hernandez and husband Joseph of Big Spring, TX and Wendy Matte of Church Point; nine grandchildren: Eric, Seth, Hiedi and Logan Matte, Arianna and Gabrielle Credeur, Mallory C. Schexnayder, Hannah Guidry and Hailey Bellon; eight great-grandchildren and her sisters, her identical twin, Leona Lavergne, Janice Hartiens, Stephanie Manual, Ada Vilardo and Marilyn Noel. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Terry Matte and her brothers, Danny, Raymond, Rocky and Glen Prevost.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Monday, March 2, from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM and continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass. A Rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 6:00 PM Monday.
