Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Merle Hollier, Sr., 52. Mr. Hollier, a long-time resident of Church Point, died Friday evening, August 5 at his residence. Father Godwin O. Nzeh, C.M.F. will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Highway 35 north of Church Point.

Survivors include his parents, Gene and Betty Hollier of Church Point; two sons, Merle David Hollier, Jr. and wife Skyler of Lafayette, La. and Brandon Hollier of Opelousas, LA; a daughter, Summer Hollier of Church Point; two brothers, Marcus Hollier of Cottonport, La and Mitchell Hollier of Owensboro, KY; two sisters, Marsha Richard and husband Randy of Church Point and Monette Drouilhet and husband Jack of Lake Charles, LA and two grandchildren, Aubrie and Kenzie Hollier.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael "Mickey" Hollier and his paternal grandparents, Elias and Hazel Hollier and his maternal grandparents, Elie and Elenor Fontenot.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 6 and continue from 10:00 A.M. Sunday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 Saturday by Deacon Bryne Winn.
An employee of Werner Trucking, he was an avid LSU sports fan.
