Mercedes
Dies
December 10, 1933 – July 27, 2023
Church Point, LA: Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mercedes Dies, 89, the former Mercedes Comeaux. Mrs. Dies, a native Church Point and resident of Houston, TX, died July 27 at her residence. Father Brian Harrington, pastor of the church, will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery adjacent to the church.
Survivors include a daughter, Nell Harris of Pearland, TX; a grandchild, John Dies, Jr. and wife Michelle of Pearland, TX; her great-grandchildren: Austin, Maddie and Kate Dies; a sister, Belinda Daigle and husband Archie of Church Point and her brothers, Carl Comeaux and wife Debra of Church Point and John Comeaux of Rayne, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Dies; her parents, Farjust and Odelia Matte Comeaux; her sons, Randy and John Hilton Dies and a brother, Herbert Comeaux. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until the time of services on Tuesday. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 1:30 PM by Deacon Byrne Winn.
Mrs. Dies was a devoted, family-oriented person who enjoyed gardening. As the poem indicates, she was truly loved and will be missed.
"When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears, be happy that we had so many years. I gave you my love, you can only guess how much you gave me in happiness. I thank you for the love each of you have shown, but now it's time I traveled on alone.
So, grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must; then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a little while that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on.
So, if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near. If you listen with your heart, you'll hear all of my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and "Welcome Home."
