Church Point, LA Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, April 25, 2016 at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point, LA for Melba Lavergne, 80,who passed away on at 2:40 pm Thursday, April 21 at Amelia Manor Nursing Home in Lafayette, LA.
Father Mark Melancon, of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral services with burial following in Saint Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau, LA.

Melba, a life -long resident of rural Acadia Parish near Duson, LA, was the daughter of the late Marcel Sonnier, Jr. and the former Odile Sonnier.

She is survived by two brothers, Nelon "Shorty" Sonnier and his wife Shirley of Lafayette and Henry Sonnier and his wife Brenda of Scott, LA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Moise Lavergne, Jr.; her parents, two sisters and eight brothers.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on, Sunday, April 24 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and continue on Monday from 8:00 am until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home Sunday evening at 6:00 pm.
