Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, November 26, 2016 at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton, LA for Maudrie C. Leger, 88, the former Maudrie Courvelle. Mrs. Leger, a native and long-time resident of rural Acadia Parish near Branch, LA, died Thursday evening, November 24 at her residence. Monsignor Russell Harrington will conduct the services with entombment following in the St. John Berchmans Mausoleum in Cankton. Survivors include two sons, Brent James Leger and wife Janie of rural Acadia Parish near Branch and Karl Jude Leger and wife Cherie of Tomball, TX; a daughter, Yvette Clare Leblanc and husband Bryan of Jacksonville, FL; two brothers, Floyd Courvelle and wife Flo of Lafayette, LA and Gerald Courvelle and wife Linda of Sunset, LA; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Dewey Leger and her parents, Dupre and Lena Cormier Courvelle. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Friday, November 25 and continue from 9:00 A.M. Saturday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 6:00 P.M. Friday by Deacon Dan Didier.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Hospice of Acadiana. Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc.
