Church Point, LA:       A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at St. John's Chapel in Lewisburg, LA for Miss Mattie Lee Wimberley, 86, who passed away Sunday, June 2 at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA. Msgr. Jefferson DeBlanc will be the celebrant of the Mass and Deacon Christopher Domingue, M.D., her cousin, will be assisting. Burial will follow immediately in St. John's Cemetery in Lewisburg.

Mattie, a life-long resident of Church Point, was born on April 20, 1933, the first-born of the late Irvin Wimberley and Mae Bourque Wimberley. She is survived by four brothers: Jessie and wife Dot; Bobby and wife Pearl; Bill and wife Estelle, all of Church Point and Dale and wife Helen of Port Barre; two sisters: Linda Brouillette and husband George and Ann Latiolais and husband Terry and a sister-in-law, Guinny Wimberley, all of Church Point; 26 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Roderick Wimberley, infant sister Mary Wimberley and a nephew Jerry Wimberley. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home in Church Point from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4.
