Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, La. for Mrs. Mary Joyce Fontenot, 73, the former Mary Joyce Venable. Mrs. Fontenot, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died at 1:50 P.M. Friday, October 4 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, La. Father Stephen Ugwu will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Highway 35 north of Church Point.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph "Joe" Fontenot of Church Point, a well-known Cajun accordion player in the Acadiana area and her son, Wayne J. Fontenot and wife Cindy of Mire, La.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elzia and Alma Prejean Venable.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. on Monday, October 7 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Tuesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:30 P.M. on Monday.
