Church Point, LA:         A Burial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 6, 2020 at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton, LA for Mary C. Savoie, 79, the former Mary Catoire. Mrs. Savoie, a long-time resident of rural St. Landry Parish near Bristol, LA, passed away on Thursday afternoon, July 2 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point, LA. Deacon Bryne Winn will conduct the service with interment in the St. John Berchmans Cemetery adjacent to the church. The Pandemic has prompted the Diocese of Lafayette to require masks at these services.
She is survived by her sons, Tommy Savoie and life partner Eddie Venable and Larry Savoie-all of Bristol; her daughters, Paulette Savoie of Cypress, TX, Christine Savoie of Bristol and Sara East of Vinton, LA; her sisters, Verline Thibodeaux and Adel Catoire-both of Vinton; her grandchildren: Madison, Michael, Julie, Ricki Jo, Logan and Gage Savoie and a great-grandchild, Jenni Savoie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Aurelis Guillory Catoire; her husband, Levi Savoie and a daughter, Jenny Savoie. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 1:00 P.M. by Deacon Winn. Pallbearers will be Larry, Tommy, Michael and Logan Savoie; Eddie Venable and Steven Speyrer.
