Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 12, 2015 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, La. for Mrs. Jimmy Prudhomme, 76, the former Mary Mae Veillon. Mrs. Prudhomme, a native of Ville Platte, La. and long-time resident of Church Point, died Sunday morning, June 7 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with interment following in the Monsignor Bienvenu Cemetery on Highway 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include two sons, Chad L. Prudhomme and wife Jeannie of Lafayette, La. and Cory Prudhomme of Church Point; a daughter, Phyllis Prudhomme-Rogers and husband Kirk of San Diego, Ca.; a brother, Roland Veillon and wife Brenda of Ville Platte; a sister, Marjorie Castoria of New York, N.Y. and six grandchildren: Ian and Kent Rogers of San Diego, Sebastian and Abbey Prudhomme of Eunice, La. and Joshua and Mallory Prudhomme of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Prudhomme; a son, Dwight Prudhomme and her parents, Eugia and Dora Fontenot Veillon.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M until 10:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 11 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Friday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held there at 7:00 P.M. Thursday by Seminarian Cade Leblanc.
The family asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home-PAC in care of Sarah Sonnier.
A member of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Choir for many years, Mrs. Prudhomme was the 2014 Mardi Gras Queen of Le Vieux Presbytere of Church Point.
