Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 24, 2015 at Our lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mary Gladys Bourque, 101, the former Mary Gladys Wimberly. Mrs. Bourque, a native and long-time resident of St. Landry Parish near Church Point, died Monday morning February 22 at her residence. Monsignor Jefferson J. Deblanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum adjacent to the church. Survivors include 4 Children: Betty B. Breaux, Mona B. McCown and husband Kenneth McCown, Kathleen B. Domingue and husband Theodore Domingue, Frederick "Bubba" Bourque and wife Linda K. Bourque; 15 Grandchildren: Craig C. Breaux, Tara Baudoin, Wade McCown, Jill Portie, Gareth McCown, Holly Stevens, Karl "Jay" Domingue, Christopher Domingue, Colette LeBlanc, Camille D. Roy, Nicole Reeves, Jene't Cazayoux, Jeane Moya, Renee Benoit, Stephanie Salling , 44 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Valerie Bourque; her parents, Maurice Wimberley and Estelle G. Wimberley; her brother, Irvin "Noon-noon" Wimberley; her sisters, Mary Mae "Mae Mae" Wimberley, Vivian W. Adams and a son-in-law Robert C. "Bobby" Breaux.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 23rd from 3-9 PM with Rosary at 7PM. Deacon Christopher Domingue will lead the rosary. On Wednesday, February 24th , visitation will be from 8AM until time of services. Pall Bearers will be Frederick Bourque, Theo Domingue, Wade McCown, Gareth McCown, Jay Domingue and Todd LeBlanc. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Kenneth McCown and Craig Breaux. Gladys ("KaKonte" to many), was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She loved to play games, visit with family and friends, and have her 3:00 PM Sunday dessert. Gladys enriched the lives of her family and friends for over a century as she taught by example the values of simplicity, humility, and, above all, devoted love to her faith, her family, and her friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Compassus.
