Church Point, LA:         A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday December 29, 2021 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mary Duplechain, 84, the former Mary Anastasia Miller. Mrs. Duplechain, a lifetime resident of rural Acadia Parish near Church Point, passed away Sunday morning, December 26 at Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas, LA. Father Brian Harrington, pastor of the church, will be the celebrant of the Mass and interment will be in the Monsignor Bienvenu Cemetery on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.

She is survived by her sons, Reginald "Reggie" Duplechain and wife Joan of Ville Platte, LA and Brent Duplechain of Church Point; her grandchildren: Cole Duplechain and wife Cora, Spencer Duplechain and wife Laura and Ryan Duplechain and wife Taylor and her great-grandchildren: Emmett, Camille, Ethan, Corbin, Beckeh, Lander, Finley, Rivers and Garron Duplechain. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt Miller and Anastasia Bourgeois; her husband, George Duplechain; a sister, Marie Manuel and two brothers, Herbert and Roy Miller.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 12:00 noon until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 28 and continue from 9:00 AM Wednesday until the time of services. A rosary will be recited in the funeral home at 6:00 PM Tuesday by Deacon Byrne Winn. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother; Mrs. Duplechain was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Edwards Church for a number of years, worked with the Cerebral Palsy Telethon for twenty-eight years and had worked with Special Olympics since 1995. Guidry Funeral Home, 219 N. Broadway St., Church Point, LA is in charge of final arrangements.
